Lessons beyond the curriculum: Perspectives from learner and teacher narratives

The learning process in modern education includes a rich tapestry of experiences that are shared between teachers and learners, going beyond the formal curriculum. By analysing narrative accounts from both educators and learners, this paper investigates the subtle lessons that arise beyond the required academic content. The study emphasises how implicit knowledge and social-emotional skills are passed down and internalised in educational settings through a qualitative examination of personal narratives, reflections, and classroom interactions. These stories highlight the co-constructed nature of meaningful learning experiences by illuminating the intricate relationship between instructional strategies and learner perceptions. This study promotes a more comprehensive view of education by elevating the voices of educators and learners, acknowledging the importance of informal instruction in fostering holistic growth. By pushing teachers to intentionally engage with learners on myriad aspects which help each other to grow.
